Jainamuni, who had suddenly disappeared from Basadi, was murdered by a barbarian. This incident took place in Hirekodi village of Chikkodi taluk of Lagavi district.
Acharya Shri 108 Kamakumar Nandi Maharaj of Nandiparvata Jain Ashram of Hirekodi village was killed.
The dead body of Muni Acharya Sri Kama Kumara Nandi Maharaj, 108, who went missing from the Nandi Parvat Jain Ashram in Hirekodi, Chikkodi taluk, was found on the outskirts of Hirekodi on Friday night.
Jain Muni had been living in Nandiparvat Ashram for the past 15 years.
He went missing from his ashram on the morning of 6th July. When his assistant went to Swamiji's room to talk to Swamiji, he was not there. Swamiji was not found even after searching the whole ashram. However, since Swamiji was not found even in the afternoon, the devotees had lodged a complaint about the disappearance of the Jain munis to the Chikkodi police station yesterday.
The Chikkodi police, who registered a case and started an investigation, detained two people on suspicion. When the police arrested and interrogated, the horrifying story of the murder came out. One of those interrogated is said to have blurted out the assassination of Swamiji.
It is said that the assassins had borrowed a large sum of money from Swamiji, but had not repaid the loan for years, so the killers had repeatedly asked him to return the money.
